Publication protocol

The cells (4×104) were seeded into 6-well plates. After 48 h, the cells were washed twice with PBS and fixed for 10 min. After removing the fixative, the cells were washed twice with PBS and stained with the staining solution provided by the β-Galactosidase Reporter Gene Staining kit (Sigma-Aldrich) for 12 h at 37°C, and the percentage of β-galactosidase-positive cells was then determined by randomly counting 5 fields on a phase contrast microscope (Olympus Corp.).
