Live/dead bacterial assay was carried out to examine the effect of nanoparticles on the integrity of bacterial cell membranes.41 10 mg mL1 Au@Ag NPs were added to 107 CFU mL 1 bacterial cells, the mixture was incubated at 37 C for 24 h. Then the solutions were mixed with 0.5 mL of dye solution containing 1 mM SYTO9 and 5 mM propidium iodide (PI) for 20 min at room temperature. The bacteria cells were imaged using a confocal laser scanning microscope (TCS-SP2, Leica, Germany).

Live/dead assay Bacteria

Hello everyone! I am going to do a live/dead assay for my cells and I saw that I can use both fluorescence and absorbance as my detection method. Is there a difference in the results depending on the method? Is one method preferred over the other in certain situations?
