Publication protocol

RNA was extracted using TRIzol reagent (Life Technologies, USA) according to the manufacturer’s instructions. We used 50–150 μg/mL glycogen (Thermo Fisher, USA) as a nucleic acid coprecipitant. RNA was dissolved in DEPC-treated water containing 1 u/μL RiboLock RNase Inhibitor (Thermo Fischer, USA) and stored at −70°C. The RNA concentration was measured by microvolume NanoVue Plus spectrophotometer (GE Healthcare, USA) or by Qubit Fluorometer (Life Technologies, USA) in combination with a Qubit RNA HS Assay Kit (Life Technologies, USA) according to the manufacturers’ protocols. The yield and size distribution of RNA were determined with a Bioanalyzer 2100 (Agilent Technologies, USA) using an Agilent RNA 6000 Pico Kit (Agilent Technologies, USA).
