Publication protocol

Freshly dissected whole retina or laser-capture microdissected samples were processed using RiboZol RNA Extraction Reagent (AMRESCO, Solon, Ohio) as indicated in the manufacturer's instructions. Genomic DNA was removed using DNase I (Invitrogen).
