supplement the medium with 15% fetal calf serum, penicillin (100 U/ml), streptomycin (100 U/ml), fungizone (250 μg/ml), and glutamine (2 mM).

Publication protocol

Porcine coronary artery endothelial cells were cultured as previously described [18]. Coronary artery segments were flushed with phosphate buffered saline solution (PBS) without calcium to remove remaining blood. Then, endothelial cells were isolated by collagenase type1 treatment (1 mg/ml for 12 min at 37°C) and cultured in flasks containing MDCB131 medium supplemented with 15% fetal calf serum, penicillin (100 U/ml), streptomycin (100 U/ml), fungizone (250 μg/ml), and glutamine (2 mM). Cells were cultured for 48–72 h and confluent cultures were used at first passage.
