	To transiently knock down GRP78 expression, ON-TARGET plus SMART pool siRNA against rat GRP78 or ON-TARGET plus Non-targeting pool siRNA (Dharmacon, Lafayette, CO, USA) were used to transfect AR42J cells with HiPerFect transfection reagent (Qiagen) according to the manufacturer’s protocol. Briefly, 1 x 105 cells were grown in 24-well culture plate and overlaid with the transfection mixture containing siRNA (50 nmol/L) and HiPerFect. After 12-h incubation, cells were treated with different concentrations of Quer-Xyl in the presence or absence of cerulein and LPS for 8 h.
