Publication protocol

Briefly, cells were trypsinized to seed at a density of 5 × 103 to 1 × 104 cells/well in 96-well plates. After 48 hours, cells were subjected to the indicated treatments and culturing periods. The following assays were performed according to the manufacturer's instructions. ApoTox-Glo™ Triplex Assay (Promega) was performed to assess viability, cytotoxicity and caspase-3/7 activation within a single assay well. The migration of cells was examined using the Oris™ Cell Migration Assay kit (Platypus Tech, Fitchburg, WI, USA). Relative absorbance, fluorescence or luminescence from the assays was detected using a Multi-Detection Microplate Reader (Synergy HT, Biotek Instruments, USA).
