Publication protocol

The invasion assay was performed using the CultreCoat 96-well Medium BME Cell Invasion Assay kit (R&D Systems) according to the manufacturer's protocol. Cells (2.5×104) in serum-free RPMI-1640 or DMEM containing 0.1% FBS were seeded into the upper chamber and the lower compartment was filled with RPMI-1640 or DMEM containing 10% FBS as the chemoattractant. After incubation for 24 h, the non-invading cells on the upper membrane surface were removed by wiping with a cotton swab. The invaded cells were stained with calcein-AM and quantified using a microplate reader.
