Publication protocol

Cell viability was determined using a fluorescence-based live/dead assay (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA) at 6 days of culture. The live cells were stained with calcein-AM (green) and dead cells with compromised membranes stained with ethidium homodimer (red).
