Publication protocol

RNA was isolated from Caco-2 cells using a NucleoSpin RNA II mini spin kit (TaKaRa Bio), and PCR was performed to confirm that no genomic DNA contamination had occurred.Human small intestine RNA was purchased from Agilent Technologies (Santa Clara, CA, U.S.A.). cDNA synthesis from total RNA (1 µg) was performed by the High Capacity cDNA Reverse Transcription Kit (Thermo Fisher Scientific) with random primers. qPCR was performed using the KAPA SYBR Fast qPCR Kit (KAPA Biosystems, Boston, MA, U.S.A.) and the Eco Real-Time PCR System (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA, U.S.A.). The CES mRNA expression levels were normalized by the glycelaldehyde-3-phosphadte dehydrogenase (GAPDH) mRNA level. RT-PCR was also performed using the KAPA taq DNA polymerase (KAPA Biosystems)
