Publication protocol

Total RNA was extracted from collected cell pellets using Direct-sol MiniPrep kit (Zymo Research) according to the manufacturer's instructions. For each sample, RNA quantification and quality control were assessed by NanoDrop 2000c measurements (Thermo Scientific). A final amount of 5 ng of the template RNA was required for first-strand cDNA synthesis of miRNAs with the Universal cDNA Synthesis kit II (Exiqon).
