For RT-PCR analysis, 80-90% confluent RIN-5F cells were starved in serum-free RPMI-1640 for 4 h at 37°C and stimulated with insulin, ZnSO4, or [Zn(hkt)2] for 2 h in
high glucose (25 mM) DMEM. After stimulation, total RNA was obtained using a TriPure Isolation Reagent (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA). Extracted RNA was
