Publication protocol

Total RNA was extracted with RiboZol™(Amresco, USA) and quantified usingNanoDrop Lite spectrophotometer (ThermoScientific, India). Reverse-Transcriptase PCRwas carried out using Revert Aid First StrandcDNA Synthesis Kit (Thermo Scientific, India)and oligo(dT) primer as per the manufactur-er’s protocol. For every reaction of cDNA syn-thesis 1μg of purified RNA was used followedby PCR amplification using specific primers tocandidate genes listed in Table 1 within thelinear range of amplification (35 cycles). A 10μL aliquot of the amplified product was loadedon 1.6% agarose gel and bands obtained wereanalyzed using ImageJ 1.46r software. The nor-malized gene expression with a >1.5 foldincrease and a P<0.01 was considered to besignificant.
