Publication protocol

Total RNA was extracted by using TRIzol reagent (Invitrogen), quantified by densitometric analysis at 260 nm, and analyzed by real-time reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) using ORF 73, ORF 50, and K8 primers as described previously (3, 20). PCR was performed using an ABI Prism 7500 real-time PCR system utilizing TaqMan EZ RT-PCR Core reagents (Applied Biosystems).
