Publication protocol
Total RNA was purified using the purelink RNA purification kit (Invitrogen) and was used as the template for the first strand cDNA synthesis using the Superscript III cDNA synthesis kit (Invitrogen). Relative expression level of selected genes was measured by real time PCR using power SYBR qPCR premix reagents (Invitrogen) in a Realplex system (Eppendorf). Primer efficiency was determined by serially diluting the cDNA and monitoring DNA amplification by real-time PCR. Primers for qPCR used in this study are listed in Table S3. Gene-expression levels were normalized using the endogenous control gene TEF1.
