For low 260/230 readings the best approach is to try washing sample (precipitation) with ethanol to desalt it.

Publication protocol

RNA was extracted using TRIzol Reagent (Life technologies, Darmstadt, Germany). For microarrays, 6 μg RNA were treated with 1 μL Precision DNase (Primerdesign, Rownhams, UK) and purified using an RNeasy Mini Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany).
