Publication protocol

Total RNA was extracted from rat neonatal CMs, cardiac fibroblasts and hearts using TRI Reagent (Sigma-Aldrich) and was resolved in sterilized RNase-free water. The RNA concentration was determined by NanoDrop spectrophotometer (Thermo Scientific Inc., Waltham, MA) and the purified RNA was aliquot and stored at −80 °C. exRNA in culture media or mouse sera was extracted using Trizol LS and quantified using Quant-iTTM RNA assay kit (Life Technologies, Grand Island, NY).
