	Cells were propagated in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM (Sigma D6429)), supplemented with 10% (v/v) heat‐inactivated foetal calf serum (FCS), penicillin (100 U/mL) and streptomycin (100 μg/mL) at 37°C with 5% (v/v) CO2. G418 sulphate (Geneticin; GIBCO) (1 mg/mL) was added to the culture medium for propagating MDCK‐SIAT1 cells.

Publication protocol

MDCK‐SIAT1 cells, stably expressing human CMP‐N‐acetylneuraminate:β‐galactoside α‐2,6‐sialyltransferase7 and the conventional MDCK cell line from which they were derived (MDCK‐parent), were kindly provided by Dr. M. Matrosovich, Philipps‐Universität, Marburg, Germany. Cells were propagated in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM (Sigma D6429)), supplemented with 10% (v/v) heat‐inactivated foetal calf serum (FCS), penicillin (100 U/mL) and streptomycin (100 μg/mL) at 37°C with 5% (v/v) CO2. G418 sulphate (Geneticin; GIBCO) (1 mg/mL) was added to the culture medium for propagating MDCK‐SIAT1 cells.
