Publication protocol

Human normal breast cell line MCF-10A and human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 were obtained from ATCC (Manassas, VA, USA). MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells were maintained in DMEM (HyClone, Logan, UT, USA) supplemented with 1% penicillin/strepto mycin (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA) and 10% FBS (HyClone) at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere. MCF-10A cells were maintained in DMEM/F12 medium supplemented with heat-inactivated horse serum (5%), cholera toxin (1 μg/mL), EGF (10 ng/mL), insulin (10 μg/mL) and hydrocortisone (1 μg/mL) at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere.
