The mesenteric arterioles were homogenized in radioimmunoprecipitation assay (RIPA) buffer (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.) (ratio of 10 mg tissue to 100 µl RIPA buffer) with freshly added protease inhibitor, phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (Sigma-Aldrich; Merck Millipore, Darmstadt, Germany). The homogenates were incubated at 4°C for 30 min and centrifuged at 12,000 × g for 15 min at 4°C. The supernatant was collected, and the protein concentration in the supernatant was determined using a bicinchoninic acid assay.
