Publication protocol

Plasma levels of ADIPOQ, LEP and RETN were
measured in a subgroup of 80 individuals. The
plasma samples were prepared from venous blood
collected in a tube containing 0.5 M EDTA, separated
by centrifugation (465 g, 4°C, 10 min), and then stored
at −70°C within 30 min after collection.
Adipokine plasma levels were determined using
enzyme–linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
kits: Adiponectin Human ELISA, High Sensitivity
(Sandwich) RD191023100 (BioVendor Laboratory
Medicine, Brno, Czech Republic), Leptin ELISA
DEE007(Demeditec Diagnostics GmbH, Kiel, Germany)
and Human Resistin ELISA Kit ER1001–1 (Assaypro,
St. Charles, USA), with VersaMax™ ELISAMicroplate
Reader(Molecular Devices,Sunnyvale, USA) according
to the manufacturer’s instructions.
