-Store kit at -20°C immediately upon receipt. Kit has a storage time of 1 year from receipt, providing components have not been reconstituted. -Equilibrate all reagents to room temperature (18-25°C) prior to use.	-Avoid foaming or bubbles when mixing or reconstituting components. -Do not vortex the standard during reconstitution, as this will destabilize the protein. -When preparing your standards, it is very critical to briefly spin down the vial first.	-Once your standard has been reconstituted, it should be used right away or else frozen for later use. -Be sure to discard the working standard dilutions after use – they do not store well.

Publication protocol

Quantification of endogenous brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) can be performed with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The rat striata were homogenized in PBS (pH 7.4), with the addition of protease inhibitors (Sigma-Aldrich, USA), according to the manufacturer's instructions. The results were expressed as pg/g tissue.
