Plasmid isolation from 100 ml cultures of the strains was performed using the E.Z.N.A plasmid midiprep kit (Omega Bio-Tek Inc., Norcross, GA, USA) according to the protocol provided by the manufacturer, and the plasmids were detected by running in a 1% w/v agarose gel.
