"After incubation of murine monocyte precursor cells obtained from the bone marrow
from C57B/L6 mouse femurs at 37°C with 5% CO2 for 1 week, bone marrow
progenitors were polarized into M1 and M2 macrophages with the use of cytokines
as shown in figure S5. Human macrophages were obtained from peripheral blood
mononuclear cells (PBMCs) acquired from de-identified healthy human donors using
Classical Monocyte Isolation Kit, human (Cat# 130-117-337 MACS Miltenyi Biotec)
and were depleted of CD14 positive cells and polarized into M1 and M2
macrophages with the use of cytokines (fig. S5). Recombinant mouse M-CSF (Cat#
PMC2044) and recombinant human IFNγ protein (Cat# PHC4033) were purchased
from ThermoFisher Scientific, recombinant mouse IFNγ (Cat# 485-MI-100),
recombinant mouse IL-4 (Cat# 404-ML-050), recombinant human IL-4 (Cat# 204-IL050), recombinant human IL-13 (Cat# 213-ILB-025), and recombinant human IL-6
proteins (Cat# 206-IL-050) from R&D Systems. Human granulocyte macrophage
colony stimulating factor (hGM-CSF) (Cat# 8922SC) and human macrophage colony
Stimulating Factor (hM-CSF) (Cat# 8929SC) were purchased from Cell Signaling,
and lipopolysaccharide from Escherichia coli O111:B4 (Cat# L3012-5MG) from
Sigma Aldrich."
